Taurus New Moon ~ the beginning of
(ceramic bowl by Peta van Rood)
The New Moon in Virgo is time to ground the dreams you allowed yourself to dwell in over the last big eclipse cycle. Hopefully during the Pisces full moon, on September 6th , a time was set aside for refining the visions, for fine-tuning the palaces and castles of your imagination.
Now you can once again hone these frequencies so that they can find an earthy practical place in your everyday life, for these higher vibrations to bring you tangible actions and results. The Virgo new moon opposite Chiron means you can heal any doubts or self-sabotage patterns by feeling into them, welcoming and holding, just as you would an insecure child, just gently and slowly.
Neptune's placement means you can use the subtle transformational qualities of the element water, or/and the music of stringed instruments, to soothe and coax the self-doubt out into the light, you can ask yourself the question: "is this true?" And your knowing will show you that it is not real. The 'thank-the-lord' energy of the Uranus opposing Jupiter brings that 'ahaaah' moment.
They can be indicators of important events in our lives, ending periods of inertia or stagnation.
As I write this, the energy of tomorrow morning’s Lunar eclipse is building momentum. Astrologers everywhere are excited about this particular eclipse cycle. Especially the Solar eclipse happening on August 22nd is going to be the first eclipse to be visible throughout the US for nearly a hundred years. It seems to me that this could be an opportunity to bring some of the disparate forces that are tearing that country apart at present into some unity. There are some good planetary configurations for that, which I’ll talk about later.
I will start my analysis of the partial Lunar Eclipse, which down here in South Eastern Australia, will occur at 4:20 am on the morning of the 8th August. The most outstanding planetary configuration I see in the chart for this eclipse is the last square of Jupiter in Libra and Pluto Capricorn, whom have been doing a square dance since November 2016. This is their third and final connection, and the third hit is usually the most manifest.
On a mundane level we have seen huge plays of power and politics dominating important questions and issues which have to do with our ubiquitous survival, territory and environmental issues. In an ideal world these important questions would be addressed under a bipartisan flag for all-life-on-earth, but instead we’ve seen the primal forces of our amygdala’s at work, in the form of power grabs and bullying threats which could spell disaster if we don’t bring our neo-cortex’s (rational thinking) into play very quickly.
The potential here is that this last hit of the Jupiter and Pluto square conjoined with the nature of this Lunar eclipse, could move us into an evolutionary trajectory and quantum leap into a consciousness that shows us just how absurd it is that we pit ourselves against each other in power struggles, when we could be collaborating for the purpose of forming the new world. (the positive frequencies of Jupiter and Pluto, and the Aquarian age).
The Lunar eclipse energy brings so much up from our emotional bodies, the cellular memories from pre-birth, early childhood and even ancestral patterns.
Especially with the Square from Chiron to the eclipse ascendant, which reveals old wounds and scars in need of some attention. The softening energy of Venus in the first house could bring a creative balance and will for balance and peace.
And luckily Mars conjunct the Sun and trine Saturn (orderly yet natural and dynamic action), could be the push we need to awaken into the universal co-creative species we have the potential to become in this Aquarian age, with the ruler of Aquarius, Uranus, stationed retrograde.
The energy of the planets in our solar system affects all of us at some level, but the fixed signs Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius and Taurus, and if you were born on around 7-8th of August, November, February or May, you will feel this in your life as a shake-up towards more honesty and vitality, but you may need to release and let go of belief systems or physical clutter for this to make the space needed for such a change. Lunar eclipses are helpful for releasing and letting go, and I recommend allowing the frequencies to motivate you towards more simplicity in your life.
It is interesting that Uranus is stationing to go retrograde a few days ago at 28 degrees Aries (where it will stay until September 10th).
It will be sextile the ascendant (27ªGemini) of the Lunar Eclipse (Aug 8th) and trine the Solar Eclipse, (Aug 22nd). Both so-called soft aspects, which means that change can happen effortlessly, but on the down side it can also mean that people don’t feel the urgency of the collective wake-up call and won’t necessarily be aware of, or facilitate and make room for the change that is so much the essence of the current zeitgeist, with its Aquarian overtones.
This eclipse cycle is crowned by the much anticipated Solar eclipse AUEST 4:31am, August 22nd. One of the reasons this has been getting so much attention is because it will be seen all over the United States as a total eclipse, for the first time since June 8th 1918. Some American astrologers are calling it ‘The American eclipse’, and are hoping so much that it is a sign of changes which will bring them together for more positive and fairer outcomes.
This Solar Eclipse develops the Lunar eclipse, bringing more intensity with the stellium of planets in Leo. Both eclipses take place in 2nd to 8th house circumstances, which are to do with physical values and deeper transformational concerns of the Soul, as well as important issues about our standing with mother Earth. What is very different from the Lunar eclipse, is the relationship of the Moon’s nodes or Dragon’s tail and head with the Sun/Moon as well as with Venus.
When talking about the Moon’s Nodes one is talking about the Soul’s memory, the point of growth. And with Venus in an exact semi-sextile, the emphasis can be on the Soul’s relationships to love and material wellbeing. There could be a reconciliation amongst us all, between each other and our mother Earth.
As well as this, Chiron forms a quincunx to the Sun and Moon, offering the deepest compassion and possibilities for empathy and growth and a big healing can take place in some of our most deeply felt domains of the soul. (8th house).
I remain an optimist.

Happy Mother's Day 2017
This is what I often say or find myself thinking as the time approaches when you cannot go anywhere without having your senses bombarded with advertisers tugging at your heart-strings trying to persuade you to invest in their products or services for your beloved, or not so beloved mother.
People talk about how commercial mother's day is. Restaurants are booked months in advance and traffic goes into gridlock as families gather to honour and celebrate their mothers and grandmothers.
Unfortunately not very often from a genuine place of gratitude and love, but from a place of obligation and responsibility.
How has this come about?
Surely mothers deserve acknowledgement and gratitude?
Your mother or original carer is the person who taught you about love. This led to your sense of self-worth, and taught you how to give and receive love.
Your mother’s love and care taught you about looking after yourself and your loved ones. Your mother laid the foundation of how you are with yourself in the world.
In that first few years nearly every cell in her body, every neuron in your mother’s consciousness was taken up with your needs, making sure you were fed, warm, safe, dry, clean and held. She barely had a moment to take care of her own needs.
Ofcourse these are generalizations, because everyone has their own unique history with their mothers.
I find myself wincing when I ask a woman: “what do you do?” and they answer:
“Oh, I’m just a mother”.
‘The mother-child relationship is paradoxical and, in a sense, tragic. It requires the most intense love on the mother's side, yet this very love must help the child grow away from the mother, and to become fully independent.’ Eric Fromm
Mother’s even take themselves for granted and undervalue the deep complexity of their role. But I believe that this is the most important job of all. This is the foundation of how we are all going to perceive life, love, community, nourishment and our earth.
Our earth who unconditionally feeds and nourishes all life, and continues to do so, even though we plunder, bomb, trash, and clear her, stabbing deeply into her depths to acquire her ancient fossils for our frantic greed and materialism, always looking for identification in what is outside of ourselves, and giving that more value than inner Beingness, Essence our true spiritual nourishment, which is Love.
Maybe our mothers and their mothers, and their mothers were so busy with survival that they forgot this, and only passed on the belief system that survival is the only gig and
that the biological imperative of life on earth, means we are separate from each other and in competition with all of life to survive as individuals or tribes.
We are a dysfunctional species! Something is broken when you believe that love only comes in the guise of food or material needs. We have somehow mostly forgotten that we are all aspects of Oneness, the Divine, Light, God or whatever you want to call it. Unfortunately that knowing has been boxed up and tethered to conditions and rules; sliced and processed beyond recognition in the way we live and bring up our young.
To begin with, we need to make a deep bow of gratitude and reverence for Mother everyday. Not just our own mother’s or the mothers of our spouses on mothers day.
But for the very symbol of motherhood: the great Mother in all of us, the sacred feminine aspect of our psyche’s, and our great Gaia who feeds our bodies generation after generation.
The mothering instinct is in all of life. The newly arrived get taken into the arms of mothers and carers instinctively, whether it’s the life that gave birth or not, we all have an imperative to tend to the vulnerable and fragile in our world.
Even trees stay connected psychically to their shootlings it has now been proven.
(book: 'The Hidden Life of Trees' ~ Peter Wohlleben)
For the last three or four thousand years we have become disconnected from the deep feminine aspect of our humanness.
The great Goddess who is now emerging again in her full glory, radiant abundance and generous gift of life; she is flowering again after millennia of being sidelined and repressed.
There is still a lot of work to do.
But we can all do our little bit by noticing her, and acknowledging her in each and every life form on earth.
Notice the miraculous, the awesome beauty in nature, in each other and all life.
Deep bow for the Great Mother
The Sun in Sagittarius has Saturn approaching it, only three degrees away, and the ruler of Gemini, Mercury, is moving up closer to Pluto in Capricorn. Deeper issues and projections are likely to cloud your mind with self-doubt and the need to be heard from your depths. The usual ebullience one could expect from Sagittarius and Gemini doesn't hold for long, and might only manifest in the fleeting expressions of this season's mandatory social interactions.
The last few days have been an intense time of evolutionary forces; deep grief, waves of anger and the truth wanting to come up for light, to be embraced, met and/or healed. Taking responsibility, looking in the mirror and owning our stories requires us to pause, reflect, take a moment because as we dive deeper into our inner worlds like this it means we need to bring more compassion to ourselves and thus to everyone else around us. We are more likely than ever to miscommunicate or misunderstand one another, and so a lot of awareness needs to be maintained.
We must take a moment to slow down our reactions and responses, and even pause before judging or acting at present. Mars on the ascendant of the moon chart means we need to move our bodies. So if you feel like the pressure of pausing and slowing down is too much, move your body, either in dance, Yoga, walking or whatever other spritiual practice you have which envolves moving the body.
This is a short article just to let you know that I'm still tuning in and wanting to share my insights.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and yours a very happy and safe holiday season and an excellent 2017.
I am around for readings or sessions should you wish to explore deeper or get an overview of your year ahead.

The stellium in Virgo of: the Vertex (a mathematical point) the Sun, Transpluto, Moon's North Node, Venus, Path of Fortune (also a mathematical point), Mercury, and Jupiter (in its last few weeks of Virgo, it enters Libra on September 10th) forms multi layered conglomeration of energies which could effect day-to-day events, some of them could have long term effects (Transpluto and Moon's North Node). The stellium opposes Neptune which could deliver a softening effect, which could dissipate the intensity.
It is a complex moment in the scheme of things. Saturn and Mars are conjunct and culminating at the
Sagittarian Midheaven, which suggests there could be some abrupt endings and completions of projects or plans. Frustrations and interruptions to do with goals and the trajectory of philosophical or altruistic ideals is also quite possible. If the superfluous can be edited out, and the priorities carved out from the remainder, the Saturn/Mars conjunction can work really well for streamlining any over-ambitious schemes.
Lunar Eclipses are nearly always about doing a spring clean on emotional baggage, the accumulation of unprocessed emotional matter which you didn't get time or didn't know how to process at the time.
The Aquarian moon, gives you some detachment and the gift of being able to get an overview of your life, and not get caught up in the details. Aquarius is quite at home with culling those things that don't serve the greater good, and on a personal level this can really help you be more rational and impartial.
Just a short report this time, as I slowly get back into the swing of writing again.
Would love any feedback and comments ofcourse.
Our sea and tree change
I have had the planet Saturn in Sagittarius opposing my Gemini Sun on-an-off for the last few months, and this transit will be influencing me until the end of the year. Last time this happened was when I did a big location change too. I moved from Adelaide to Melbourne, thirty years ago. There were challenges and wounds which came about because of that move, which I've been compelled to review and heal, in the last year, before I get what needs to be felt, learned and taken on board for this Saturn opposition. In that last opposition thirty years ago I built the foundations of my business: Candy Spender Jewels, some of you may not be aware that I am also an artist and jewellery designer/assembler (as I call myself).
One of the side-effects has been that my usual fiery vitality and enthusiasm has been curbed and I feel quite exhausted and lack-lustre at times. Living near the coast and in amongst huge old gum trees, with their colourful and noisy parrot populations, and the soft round sea air in the mornings instead of the fumes from rush-hour traffic feels like heaven to me. And I am making my life here in the Mornington Peninsula now, and it feels really right and that I'm on track.
The recent Lunar and Solar eclipses in March both had a huge affect on my chart, between them I was 'all shook up', as ofcourse any kind of moving house is stressful and huge, but this one was more than a house move, it was also a huge change of life-style. Interpreting the eclipses as well as I could for myself gave me so much confirmation and spelled out clearly what my big change was about. It really is a change of vibration and frequency, and I can already feel myself expanding into the spaces.
I still come into Melbourne two days a week to do tarot readings at Spellbox (Thursdays and Fridays 10:30-6pm). But I am also doing readings using Skype, phone or FaceTime. So far this is working really well.
I will also find some sort of space in Melbourne or near where I live in Crib Point now, where I can do face-to-face readings and session work, stay tuned!
